Now, I’m in week three of my journey to a healthy Adriana, and I’m realizing my stubbornness, or rather my steadfast belief in biased and unproven health and dieting “facts.”
Based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings: Eating the majority of your calories at night.
One change that I’ve made since reading Joel Marion’s book, Always Eat After 7PM, has been skipping breakfast. The horror! This would be considered blasphemy a year ago, but committing to fasting in the morning has allowed me to regulate my hunger. Before, I would obsess about food during the day. While I was eating, I would think about what I was going to eat for the next meal. And, if I wasn’t satisfied, I would do the infamous stare-in-the refrigerator-until-the-food-I-want-appears. But, it never did.
I’ve learned that the most challenging times to curb hunger are just before bed and in the morning. By following the Always Eat After 7PM program, you have the most willpower to stay on the diet because you are eating during the hours when you are most hungry. This also puts you into both intermittent fasting increasing testosterone and your metabolism, while putting you into ketosis.
Basically, I’ve taken control of my hunger, rather than let hunger overpower me.
Additionally, I have set out to make small changes to my meals and my water intake. I have a love-hate relationship with water, yet throughout this journey, I’ve taken a new approach as Joel describes it in his book: “One of the simplest 3-Minute Fat-Burning Morning Rituals, lemon water in a glass of water mixed with the juice of one half of a lemon. This drink provides all the benefits of regular drinking water, which supports weight loss, digestive health, physical performance, and cognitive function.”
One of the first things I do when I wake up is grab a glass of water and a lemon, squeeze it into the water, mix it and drink. It’s refreshing and energy-boosting. At the same time, I’ve already drunk 8 ounces of water toward my daily goal. It’s the small things that count and that will ultimately make me healthier and help me reach my weight loss goal.
In week two, I hinted at my love for carbs. To eliminate carbs from my diet would be torturous if not deadly (I’m being dramatic but you get the point). Joel mentions how “Having carbs in the evening is also a great weight loss strategy. When you’re active, your body burns mainly carbohydrates and muscle glycogen for energy. By eating carbs at night, you allow your body to use them to restore glycogen for energy the next day and provide your body with the glucose it needs to regulate your blood sugar levels during sleep.”
Carbs? At night??! Yes, please!
Not only does this make my heart scream, but this also makes my stomach do backflips as I’m typing this. One of the amazing perks of Always Eat After 7PM is having a stack of recipes to choose from, including delicious, carb-loaded, and healthy dishes. My favorite, thus far, has been the Cheesy Ground Beef Skillet [just look at the photo below].

Cheese + Beef + Rice = YASSS!
This dish incorporates some of my favorite foods and fills me up by the last bite. Typically, diets don’t fulfill that craving I have at night, but this recipe surely does. I can’t complain at the fact that I can: (1) eat after 7PM, (2) eat carbs, (3) eat my favorite food, including cheese.
There’s no more limiting or restricting myself for the sake of health. I can do all things healthy through Joel’s program.
